Here’s a blue marlin we caught last season while fishing out of Port Aransas. We caught this fish in approximately 400 feet of water while trolling a mold craft lure with a single hook set behind her. The mold craft lure is a popular lure of offshore fisherman. They come in a variety of colors and sizes ranging from 2 inches to 12 inches. These lures are relatively cheap as well. I’m a big fan of a solid black mold craft, or like the one shown in the picture purple, white and black. Trolling speeds when pulling lures ranges from 8 to 10 knots. This marlin put on a great show for us jumping wildly behind the boat which is exciting for all to see. Hope we can find some more this fishing season.
